Yoga is a beautiful science that is very beneficial for all people, especially pregnant mommas!  Yoga helps you breathe, relax and adjust to the physical demands of pregnancy.  It is also very beneficial during labor, birth and motherhood.  Yoga allows you to connect your body and mind and calms them.  It is a means by which you can relieve your physical and emotional stress that is needed by the body throughout your pregnancy.

What happens when you become fearful or think about something that is worrisome? Have you ever noticed that your breath starts to become faster and more shallow? Connecting with your breath, slowing it down, can have wonders on the way your body physically experiences these emotions.  Your body AND your baby need oxygen.  Deep, diaphramatic breaths can allow your centeral nervous system to come back to a state of normalcy.  Muscles relax and the body doesn’t have to expend energy to deal with heightened emotions.  The breath will regain control over your mind and body.

Yoga asanas or postures can allow you to gain both strength and flexibility.  It can help to move baby into favorable positions for delivery.  Try some yoga today and give it a chance.  You will experience connection, strength and inner peace!
